Las escalas de 1 a 5 son estimaciones editoriales de PetBondly basadas en descripciones de clubes de raza y fuentes generales; cada animal es diferente.
The Birman (also known as the "sacred cat of Burma") is recognised by its semi-long silky coat, dark face and tail, and the white "gloves" on each paw.
Character and temperament
Calm, gentle and sociable. It is attached to its family and enjoys spending time with people without being overly demanding. It usually gets along well with children and other animals.
Exercise and mental needs
Moderately active; daily play and toys that provide mental stimulation are enough.
Coat care
Its semi-long, silky coat lacks a dense undercoat, so it tangles little. Brushing once or twice a week is usually enough.
Who is it suited to?
Ideal for families looking for a balanced, affectionate long-haired cat whose coat is relatively easy to care for.
A short history
Although legends link the breed to Burma, today's Birman was largely developed in France in the early 20th century.
