Les échelles de 1 à 5 sont des estimations éditoriales de PetBondly fondées sur les descriptions des clubs de race et des sources générales ; chaque animal est différent.
Besides its strong, athletic build, the Boxer is known for its fun-loving, almost clownish character. It is very attached to its family and loves being around people.
Character and temperament
Cheerful, curious and affectionate. It usually gets on very well with children, but because it is exuberant and strong, supervision matters when playing with young children. It can be protective of its family. Consistent, reward-based training and early socialisation are important.
Exercise and mental needs
High-energy, it needs long daily walks, running and play. Mental activities and training games also help balance its energy. As a short-nosed breed, it's important to move exercise to cooler times in hot weather.
Coat care
Its short, glossy coat needs little care; weekly brushing is enough.
Who is it suited to?
Suited to active families who can make time for play and training. Boxers dislike being left alone for long.
A short history
Developed in Germany in the late 19th century, it has also been used throughout its history as a guard and working dog.
