Juvenile
Birth – 6 monthsGuinea pigs are born furry, eyes open and on the move; in their first months they grow fast and get used to their surroundings. Hay, sources of vitamin C and a guinea pig companion are the foundations of this stage.

Adult
6 months – 4 yearsBetween 6 months and 4 years, a guinea pig's personality settles and daily routines are at their most rewarding. The right diet, plenty of space and regular care keep these years healthy.

Senior
4 years and olderGuinea pigs are considered seniors from about 4 years of age, and many still enjoy happy years. Easy access, soft flooring, a calm routine and close monitoring make this stage more comfortable.
Age ranges are approximate; differences within a species (such as size in dogs) can shift the transitions earlier or later.
