Leopard gecko · Life stages

Approximate age ranges for Leopard gecko and the priorities of each stage.

  1. 1

    Juvenile

    Birth – 10 months

Leopard geckos grow fast and settle into their surroundings in their first months. A correct temperature layout, a humid hide and frequent, appropriately sized meals are the foundations of this stage.

  2. 2

    Adult

    10 months – 10 years

Between 10 months and 10 years, leopard geckos enjoy calm, long adult years. The right temperatures, a regular feeding routine, enrichment and tracking condition through tail thickness are the foundation of this stage.

  3. 3

    Senior

    10 years and older

Leopard geckos are considered seniors from about 10 years of age, and many live for years more. Easy access, an adapted diet, shedding support and close monitoring make this stage more comfortable.

Age ranges are approximate; differences within a species (such as size in dogs) can shift the transitions earlier or later.
